Abstract

The types of arrowheads used in the Funnel Beaker Culture on the one hand (trapezoidal or transverse) and those of contemporary cultures further south (triangular arrowheads) on the other hand have been dealt with by various authors down the years. The distinct differences were ascribed to special functions (hunting, warfare) and cultural traditions (boundaries between tribes). Christoph Rinne takes a more basic point of view, examining the technological features of both types of projectiles.
