Abstract

Excavated in 1988, the non-megalithic burial chamber Großenrode I represents a grave type distributed mainly in east Central Germany ("Mauerkammergrab"). One key feature of this type is a construction consisting of wood and dry stone walls. According to radiocarbon dates and arrowhead typology the grave can be dated shortly before 3000 BC and is thus roughly contemporaneous with the neighbouring Grave II.
