Abstract

The paper presents the historiography of Prehistoric Archaeology in Germany as a kind of collective practice of memorisation. It gives an overview on main publications on the history of archaeology and other acts of memorization in order to describe the different events and scholars and how their memory was used for the creation of a sense of identity in German Prehistoric Archaeology.
