Insight Potentials from the Sociology of Knowledge and the Sociology of Science for a History of Castle Research under National Socialism

Abstract

In this article I ask about the potentiality of approaches from the sociology of science and of knowledge for a history of castle research. A historiography of castle studies is a theoretical challenge because it was both not limited to one particular discipline and not only an academic research field but also a non-academic one. For this problem, I propose the usage of Pierre Bourdieu’s field- and habitus-theory which can be combined with further theoretical approaches.
