Abstract

This contribution introduces papers presented at the conference "Belief, superstition, death. On dealing with death in proto-historic and modern times". The problems of special burials, special grave goods and anti-vampire precautions is outlined with examples from the Middle Ages and modern times mainly from East Germany.
