Special burials in the north-western Slavic region

Abstract
In this contribution three archaeological perspectives - structural history, cultural anthropology, political history - of special funerals are presented and described with the north-west Slavic inhumations as an example. Each viewpoint has its strengths and weaknesses. If the source material permits more than one perspective, then they should all be taken into account. In particular, the perspectives of structural history and cultural anthropology supplement and require each other.
